How to Use

  1. Open the artifact. Click Open in Claude.ai above and sign in with your Claude account (free accounts work).
  2. Paste a job description and your resume into the input fields, then click Analyze Fit.
  3. Click Get AI Analysis for personalized gap strategies, interview prep, and cover letter tips. Use the interactive overrides to refine match levels, then click AI Analysis again for updated feedback.
  4. Review your tailored cover letter and resume, pick a style preset, and download as .doc.
Your inputs are auto-saved to browser localStorage. Close the tab, come back later, and your work is still there. Click Clear Saved Data to start fresh.

How the Assessment Works

The fit scoring uses heuristic NLP — it works instantly with no API calls. It extracts requirements from the job description, matches them against your resume, and calculates a weighted score. When running inside Claude.ai, you can also click Get AI Analysis for deeper, AI-powered feedback on your gaps and strengths.

The heuristic engine does its best, but you know your experience better than any keyword matcher. Every match level and skill classification is overridable:

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this send my data anywhere?
Scoring, overrides, and document generation all run locally in your browser. When you click Get AI Analysis, your assessment summary is sent to Claude for analysis. This uses your Claude.ai subscription and is subject to Anthropic’s privacy policy.
What’s the difference between .doc and .docx?
The artifact exports .doc files using an MHTML format that Word can open. They work in Microsoft Word and LibreOffice but may look slightly different than native .docx. For pixel-perfect Word documents, use the CLI or Web Chat edition.
Can I use a fun preset for a real application?
The fun presets produce complete, functional documents with all the right sections. Whether to actually submit one is between you and your risk tolerance. They work great for internal transfers, creative industry roles, or just brightening someone’s day.
How accurate is the fit scoring?
The heuristic scoring uses keyword matching, synonym lookup, and Jaccard similarity — it’s a fast, deterministic approximation that works without any API. If something looks wrong, use the interactive overrides to correct it and the scores will recalculate instantly. For deeper analysis, use the Get AI Analysis button inside Claude.ai — Claude can recognize semantic matches the heuristic engine misses.
My data disappeared — what happened?
Your inputs are saved to localStorage, which is per-browser and per-origin. Clearing browser data, using incognito mode, or opening the file from a different location will start fresh. Click Clear Saved Data intentionally to reset.
Do I need a paid Claude account?
No. The artifact works with free Claude accounts. Free tier users have tighter message limits (~10–25 per 5-hour window), so each Get AI Analysis click counts against that cap, but all heuristic features (scoring, overrides, documents) are unlimited.
